New trains, coaches, rail, require careful design. Train Coach Designers do not just dream up a spring constant or shock response, the designer uses reasonable values or values from manufacturers. In service responses are derived from past models and actual responses of equipment.
V.A.S.E. Pro offers testing of accelerations of existing trains containing springs, bogies, shocks and the like installed on older trains, run on real or test tracks so models can be calibrated.
Once a train car has had major event or if there has been cargo damage, post event analysis could include a rerun of the trip over the same track at the same speed to measure actual accelerations, ride, tilt or peak particle velocity. The effectiveness of various components or the track can be evaluated.
Our team uses HBM recording and Jewell MEMS accelerometers to measure acceleration in all three axes. We can measure at many rates up to 300 Hz. Other tests can be conducted as required.
